CDR Leicester – Thursday 21st May, Big tings!!!

Been meaning to post this for a few days, still better late then never!
So last Thursday the place to be if your a music creater (producer/singer/songwriter/composer…) in the Midlands was Sophbeck, Leicester! A banging CDR session took place.
A brief overview for the uninitiated, CDR is a night run by Burntprogress where music creators hand there music in and then it gets mixed into a live set and blasted out over the soundsystem!
But it is much more than that. Most of my progress in the music scene has been made through networking at this event. Its a hot bed for local talent with like minded artists and producers. And also it acts as inspiration, hearing your mixes away from your bedroom and the places your used to hearing them.
The next event is in Derby this week (May 28th @ Quad) and then the event comes to Nottingham next month (June 25th @ Muse).
Please, please, please support this cause, if you create music get down to showcase your skills and meet others in your position. At the moment Nottingham isn’t representing as it should so my Nottingham people, we gotta step our game up!
The bedroom producer can get caught up in his/her own bubble sometimes, CDR gives you the opportunity to break out and get your music out there!!

The last week or so have been filled with a mix of good and down right rude! Such as driving all the way to Durham to buy a new microphone, only for the guy to not meet me when I got there, pissed!! Still spent the day researching how to be effective on ‘tinternet…so here goes!

Also talking bout ReverbNation i’m up to no.3 on the local R&B charts, which includes artists from Birmingham, Manchester, Derby & Leicester amongst places so i’m too hype about that!!
Congrats to one of my collaborators Kace, had a new addition to his family! Big-ups to you sir on that front and also he and another homie Samzee got air time for ‘Get2U’ (huge tune) on radio Mansfield! ’You go up, we go up…’
Saturday night/Sunday morning crazy vibes going down here at Santiago’s, yeh my bedroom studio’s got a name! The Luton massive arrived lead by a tired Hemal and his two rappers Shox and Concept! All I can stay is pure fire!! 4 tracks 6 in the am, oh gosh!! Tracks/videos will be uploaded as soon as the can!
Finally Mr Sicke my partner in crime rolled through on sunday and we spurlged hard!! Got essential upgrades which have now made Santiago’s better than Abbey Road, ‘wa-chu-gonna-do’!
This week CDR Leicester got some heat for my family there! Loads of mixing to do, loads of writing to do, loads of correspondance with stuffy industry ppl, the fun continues!

Yes people!! Its been a few days, still hope your cool.
Uploaded a new track, Cliffhanger as a thank you to those signed up to the mailing list, and also an incentive to get more people into my music! Its a fan-only exclusive download. The tracks a vocal demo and showcases the first stages of a song. Its me singing it now but ideally it would get pitched to the Leona’s, Beyonce’s and Alexandra’s!! Also it was co-produced with my main man Mr Sicke. Check his shizzle out!!
Friday was a mad day! Started off re-recording a track with Abs. Amazing voice and congrats to her for making the choir!! ‘Make My Heart Skream’ is the track and a version of it will be on here ASAP!

The last few days of music mayhem!!

Well I really should have dropped a few more posts since ‘Kace’s Kitchen’ still I didn’t so heres the summary!
Last Thursday my talented homie J Marshall came round to put some drums down on a track! He did his thing to give me a funky drum rhythm for a track called ‘Singing Marvin Gaye’. Now this track is being mixed but it will be on here as soon as its finished. I’m entering it into a songwriting contest and the deadline is Friday so its got to be done by then! www.thebosas.com for any aspiring singers/songwriters/whatevers who might want to enter.
Over the weekedn had too many jokes with my long time collaborator Mr Sicke (pronounced sick not seek in case you were wondering)! We got a little video camera on the job to film some music making and general messing around which is going to be up on here shortly. Also set up a lil’ photo shoot to boost the image, so the shots are being uploaded onto facebook/myspace after this post gets published. www.myspace.com/mrsicke
Finally got two more musical projects on the go. Firstly been working with the afrikan prince, Didier! An incredible musician who spins songs off the top of his head, so look out for a couple of tracks with him that were created earlier today. Secondly, working on a track for a local band called King of Slugs (www.myspace.com/kingofslugs ). These boys are real funky and write some catchy stuff, so listen out for the collaboration.

Chilling with Kace in the Kitchen, cooking up some bangers!!

Today I met up with Kace the producer. I met this guy through CDR Burntprogress (www.burntprogress.com), and heard one of his tracks playing out. A detail exchange and next thing i’m chilling in the studio with him! This guys commited and focused, and already seeing some fruits from his hard labour!
Anyways today, as I said I went round to his home studio and we jammed playing a couple of things, then a beat was dropped, then some keys were dropped, then a bass was dropped, then a hook was wrote, then a lyric was sung, then a studio session was made! So stay tuned a fresh collaboration between Kace and myself is coming…
